In this latest installment of our new video interview series at I-CONnect, I interview Nick Robinson on the subject of judicial appointments in India.
In the interview, we discuss how judicial appointment will change under 121st amendment to the Indian Constitution, which will constitutionalize the National Judicial Appointments Commission. We explore how judicial appointment has proceeded until now, the criticisms of that process, and why the time was ripe for the 121st amendment.
Nick Robinson is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Center on the Legal Profession at Harvard Law School. A former law clerk for the Chief Justice of the Indian Supreme Court, he has also been a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Policy Research, an Assistant Professor at Jindal Global Law School, and a Ruebhausen South Asia Teaching and Fellow at Lahore University of Management Sciences. He holds degrees from the University of Chicago and Yale Law School.
