Developments in Constitutional Courts
- The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia read down parts of a law that permitted government institutions, institutions, professions, and corporations from instituting suits for defamation.
- The Court of Justice of the European Union held that the Republic of Malta could not commercialise away a right to Maltese (and thus EU) citizenship based on investments made into its jurisdiction.
- The Supreme Court of India reaffirmed that the decisions of sharia courts or courts of kazi-s would no force of law and cannot be enforced by state sanction.
- The Constitutional Court of South Africa has held that prohibiting prisoners from using personal computers in their cell for studying is unconstitutional.

- The European Court of Human Rights has elected Judge Mattias Guyomar (France) as its President with effect from 30 May 2025.
- The President of India Droupadi Murli has notified the appointment of Justice BR Gavai as the next Chief Justice of India with effect from 14 May 2025.
- The United Arab Emirates has announced its plans to introduce artificial intelligence in the process of creating proposals, drafting, and suggesting future of legislation.

- The Journal of Public Health is planning a special supplement on ‘Ethics, values and law for public health in a world in turmoil’. It invites paper submissions by 15 May 2025.
- The Asian Journal of Law and Society has announced a special issue, to be released in 2027, on ‘Courts and Governance in Asia’. It invites a proposed title and an abstract by 31 July 2025. The final manuscript must be submitted by 31 May 2026.
- The RGNUL Student Research Review has announced its Volume 11 Issue 1 on ‘Comparative Law in a Changing World’. It invites abstracts by 15 June 2025. The final manuscript must be submitted by 31 July 2025.
